Sss

Yes, in this case (in which you have full eyeball mesh structures inside the head) I think it's time to try that LAYER trick, using a BITMAP to paint SSS only where you want it. I will do another Tut on this before long.

Thanks for the tutorial rasputin.

you really put a lot of work into it explaining everything in depth.

and that is something i truly can appreciate, in not just knowing how to make or create SSS but understanding its properties,

and done in a way that really gets under the "surface' heh thumb_yello.gif

thanks for that... really helpfull and easy to understand, great work...

one more thing that is very usefull when working with SSS is the fusion channel with it's masking layer... when you have uv'ed the mesh you can paint a 'irradience' map where the sss effect is shown and where not or less.... that way you can paint out the area's that give you trouble and keep you're focus on the other important parts...

Thanks, Dutch. I'm cooking up a "sequel" tutorial that will cover just that, and maybe some other things.

Good ol fusion.lol. My last SSS texture had 6 nested fusion shaders...I had to draw it out on paper to keep it all organized.Yikes!
