  • Hello all, I just completed my first model,it is a simple one but a start. What can I do to make this seem more realistic; I'm really not feeling it, but do not know what else to. Help!

    Thanks,

You can start with better lighting and an other than black background.

The materials are very important too. and don't forget to set the proper material illumination model, Phong, Blinn or Oren-Nayar.

    Peace,

    Rich_Art. :)

EDIT: Take a look at one of my images. Very Simple to make. But as you can see it looks not bad. That is because of the lighting and the use of some good materials.

You could create your own in PhotoShop or any image editing program.

Alternatively, peel and scan a real one from a bottle or use a trimmed box label.

Have you tried one of the 'Product Stage' rigs in the Content Browser?

These are pre-lit sets to place your model. It gives you a proper set-up which you can then modify, tweak, twiddle and learn. :)

    Cheers, Alan.

"EDIT: Take a look at one of my images."

Those roofing nails are just waiting to poke a hole in some kid's sneaker!

Hmnnn...... Maybe they are those sheet rock nails. Same problem though.

  • a week?

    what was you rendering.

if it was just the object from first post then render should never take that long.

should only take a few minutes not even that long :)

  • lol, no. I work for a prepess (printing) company. I was busy working on some stuff for a client. This what I'm trying to break away from, moving over to motion graphics.....but learning 3-d to implement into mograph work.

  • While no means perfect. You can see what a few simple adjustments to texture and lighting can do.

In fact, looking at mine here, it actually looks more like an illustration than a rendering. Could always use more tweeking.
