C4d Cafe Phone Modelling Tutorial Question

Recommended Posts

Guest Rudebwoy

Hello everyone, hope all is well.

I have a bit of a dilema getting my object to be transparent so that I might line up my point(s) in the correct position. I am following 3d kiwi's tutorial on this, but I can not seem to figuer this bit out. I'm attaching a couple of screen shots for clarity sake.

One more thing. How do I change the background color for my final renders ?

Any help would be great

Thank you,

Rudebwoy

1) go to viewport menu

display/lines

2)add background or sky object and add material to it

you might want to turn on "isoline editing" to

in viewport menu

go to "edit/configure"

then in the attributes go to the "display" tab

and tick "isoline editing"

Thanks for the quick response guys. Isoline editing was check already, when I go to the top view port and select diplay>lines, I see the lines but then the image disappears. Any other ideas?

how did you apply the image?

it shouldnt disappear if you did it the right way because the image has nothing to do with the display/line setting.

to load image go to editview menu

edit/configure

then the back tab in attributes and load image in image field

Ok I think I know why! The file that I'm using was provided by 3dkiwi, the images are on planes in the perspective viewport, this could be why. But how did he set it up to view this way. I will try to set as the background.

Thank you very much,

Rudebowy

The phone tutorial is getting on a bit now (you can tell by the phone!) and when Kiwi made it, you had to put background images on planes. That's changed since (I think R9). There are some other things in the tutorial that need updating as well. Kiwi keeps threatening to make a new version as it is still a very popular one. Maybe if you ask him nicely...

Yup, that's an old tutorial and an old phone. I've had another one for quite a while now.

Yeah I guess at some point I could redo this tutorial although generally it's the same in R9 and R10.

Yell out if you need help.

Ok! I've started to model my phone, check attachment. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with the points because the are all over the place and when I make new Knife cuts, I get a whole bunch of extra lines that are driving be crazy. Are there certain settings that I should use when doint p2p modelling?

Thanks,

Rudebwoy
