Is there a way to import a terrain from carrara into C4d including all the original shaders and textures? - I've found exactly what I need but it's too difficult for me to replicate it in C4D. Or maybe someone can give me directions.

  • Have you tried importing the terrain via the plugin riptide. I have managed to import objects as obj. with textures from this plugin.

i think that like bryce carrara can export the terrains as obj and can also create a baked overhead view of the texture

    At Spanki's Prop Shop.

Just a note ahead of time... Riptide will import the .obj file (mesh) and if that file specifies a .mtl file (materials), it will attempt to find and read that file from the same folder as th .obj file. The .mtl file is where the filenames of the texture files are stored. Riptide reads in the texture filenames and tells C4D about them, but C4D has to know where to find the actual texture files. You accomplish this by setting up your "Texture Paths" preferences within C4D.
