Bump Acts Like Color?

  • Hey guys,

    I dont know if im just overlooking a tick box or what, but my bump maps have not been affecting actual geometery, but instead acting like a multiplied color channel (that is, only the dark values are apparent, and flat, right on top of the surface). Am i just missing something stupid?

    The bump channel never affects geometry. It gives the illusion of height and depth by shading. For real height and depth load your bump map into the Displacement channel and enable SPD (Sub polygon displacement). You'll then get visible geometry changes.
