Another Mysterious Alpha Channel Problem

Recommended Posts

  • Topic Author
  • So I'm running into a random problem that i'm not quite sure what it is.

I basically have a plane with a texture of a gun applied to it, with the alpha channel image in its proper spot so i could mask out the object.

What I think I'm running into is the that the plane is still showing up as black. As you can see on the image you don't see the lines of the sphere showing.

I hope this makes sense. I've attached the rendered image along with the image that its in my color channel and alpha channel.

    Hope to hear some insight.

    Thanks.

In the render settings try increasing the "Ray Depth" to about 50. See if that helps.

What sort of an object is the sphere with the spline connections?

Changed the Ray Depth to 50 and no change.

My point about the sphere object was that in the render you can see the spheres that are at the vertices points, but not the lines connecting them. If the lines are done using a post filter, then that's you problem right there. Alphas don't play nice with post filters.

hmmm.. i made it using a cloner object, and the connecting lines are cylinders. Does that answer your question?
