Recommended Posts

  • Hi guys,

I was treying some experiment with mograph when I wonder: is there any chance to control a single element of those generated by the cloner object?

    thanks

    Yes, in many ways!

By effectors, Mograph selections, Mograph Xpresso nodes and even by Cmotion :)

    Cheers

What exactly would you like to do? :)

Seems to me that you are a beginner with Mograph...?

    Cheers

Hrvoje is too bashful to plug his Volume 4, which covers all aspects of Mograph.

    even by Cmotion :)

Hrvoje, if you have a sec...

That smilie gives me the confusing impression that isolating a single clone is as straightforward to do with C-Motion as it is with a MoSelection.

I don't think I get what approach you're referring to.

Which "CMotion Action / Cloner Parameter" combo would you use to access/control a single Clone directly ?

Could you set up a quick example ?

    Appreciated.

    cheers,

    d

You get it, I'm terribly new to mograph. However I got the control using MoSelection and plain effector, so I'm ok with this, now I've have some new problems: can I assign to a determined clone a different material from all others?

P.S. forget my english, is 2 am here in rome ;)

One quick way to do this is use two children in your Cloner, Nemus; each with a different Material in its Texture Tag.

Then set the cloner to Sort instead of Iterate.

Then use the setup with the Plain Effector and the MoSelection that you already know how to use.

Now in your Plain Effector set the Modify Clone Parameter to 100%

    see the attachment.

This is all basic MoGraph functionality, so it shouldn't be too hard.

    cheers,

    d

@Hrvoje : hope you have a sec to reply to the above question.

  • So, lets see if I got it: a cloner object in sort mode clones its children following a behaviour determined by effector, right?

    Hrvoje,

Could you take a sec to get back to this, please ?

Which "CMotion Action / Cloner Parameter" combo would you use to access/control a single Clone directly ?

I know my MoGraph and what can be done with Effectors, Selections, and Nodes, and I know the basics of how to use CMotion with User Data to control Parameters,

so there's no need for extensive elaboration. Just a few keywords will do.

    Or a quick example.

Probably it was just a slip of your tongue that left me confused, but maybe there's some key insight I'm missing.

    Thanks.

    cheers,

    d

    Cmotion works with UD ;)

I know. You can even use User Data Parameters that are linked to Xpresso Nodes.

As long as the UD are Floats you're fine.

Still doesn't answer the question though :

Which "CMotion Action / Cloner Parameter" combo would you use to access/control a single Clone directly ?

Let's keep it simple and super concrete :

I have a Linear Cloner with 3 Clones.

How do I setup CMotion to make only the second Clone move ?

I could swear this can't be done, and now you got me all confused.
