Creating A Mounting Rail...

  • Hello everyone...

    Im new to C4D and to the Cafe as well....

    I need to create a mounting rail (see pic attached) ... so far Ive got a small bit done I was just wondering how can I "duplicate" that thing ive done for 20 times? At the end i will need 40 holes....

    I guess i havent been that clear but i hope someone can help me....

    I'm a newbie, but I'll try to help. I can advice the Duplicate and arrange functions in the Tools menu, or you can use a Cloner object from MoGraph. You can also try Clone and Array commands from the Mesh menu. It seems there are plenty of options, though I'm not sure which would be best in your case.

    Also I've noticed a seam between the outermost hole and the big circle hole. I'm no expert, but the geometry looks bad, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, why did you cut the holes with spheres? Cylinders would do better, now the inner sides of all cut outs are not straight, but bended inwards.

  • Yeah, true....the geometry is quite a mess....The thing is it wont be seen close in details but in a wide shot....so hopefully wont look that bad!
