In 2012 Is Cineversity Worth The Loot?

Recommended Posts

IMHO he should have made the new "Volume 1" available free to the "Gold" members that purchased
the first one. I shan't be paying twice for a volume one tutorial, 99 percent of which I don't
need at this pint, just to get some updates on the recent Cinema releases. Small quibble all in all.

Old Vol.1 was done in R11.5 and 12 and although they share the same name and some overlapping content due to the nature of things, new volume 1 is completely new training built from scratch :)

difference between R11.5 and R14 is huge (New snapping, guides, axis extension&modification, workplane, navigation, interface, projection tools, new deformers etc) so it had to be done.

Hope you don't feel you lost 20€ ;)

By the way, I am thinking about doing a modeling training which would include building couple of very different models (not characters) just to encompass all areas of where Cinema is being used such as arch, automotive, product design etc.

Cheers

After you release the expresso tut, you can do whatever you want ;-) :-)

@Varanid

You reminded me that gold users deserve extra treatment, after all, they were my first customers and took a leap of faith with the first tut I made - I'll keep that in mind for future, reworked volumes :)

@PixelPit

Xpresso volume or project? Or both? :)

Yes!!!

I did want to say that cineversity has been helpful to me in personal training by using their forums. Dr. Sassi is amazing and can figure anything out which is giving you trouble. To me, that is worth the yearly investment alone.

Just my two cents worth.

@mbyrne

I was joking when I said they can't afford me:)

Vray? Odd that you ask because few months back I talked with Stefan about such possibility. The problem is that I am not a Vray user and it would take time to master it, and until then there is no way I will do Vray tut unless I know it inside out. Anything else would be dilettantish from my part.

Does this mean you're working on an Expresso Volume already?

Which would mean covering every node in detail, including TP. :)

That would be quite a volume...

TP would be a separate volume ;)

Hair please.

I still have some catching up to do - Mograph will be next - but we sorely need an in depth tutorial

on the hair module.

I bought old and new volumes of the Vertex Pusher modelling series and felt I received my moneys worth with each (even if my very slow confidence with the software is only really letting me properly digest the R14 tutorials, I was still too spooked by the software when I bought the first volume).  I agree the Vertex Pusher tutorials are really worthwhile.  If a new modelling volume is released I'll grab it.

Chris Schmidt at GreyScaleGorilla also does some good tutorials.
