Circular Extrude Into A Cube?

Recommended Posts

  • Topic Author
  •  this is very basic I know but modelling really is not my forte, I usually just bodge things together til they look about right and end up with horrible messy geometry. most of the time it's not a problem, this time however i'm modelling something to bring into realflow for a fluid simulation and my dirty mesh is causing all kinds of glitches.

all I need is a cube with a cylindrical hollow cut out, like a square cup. I know how to do it using booleans, or just connecting points manually, but I'm sure there's some simpler, cleaner method I'm missing. can anyone help?

There was a 3Dkiwi tutorial called Creating Round Holes & Round Extrusions, where he explained how to create round extrusions on curved surfaces.

You could use that technique to create a round extrusion in a flat surface too... I'm afraid I could not find the tutorial in the Tutorials download area.
