Hey pBarrelas, I thought I understood what you were saying and that I would just go to "Import>FBX," but I see there is nothing like that, only "Export>FBX." Can you just explain how that works? I've never done that before.

You can also simple use 'File -> Open' or 'File -> Merge'

C4D recognises if it can import a 3D file or not.

CU ;-)

Just drag and drop the FBX file into the C4D editor window and it will import automatically!

Let me know if it worked fine!

Okay, I am missing something here as i see no FBX file in the aXYZ model folder.

I'm looking for recommendations for decent 3D human models. Aside from the obvious Turbosquid, I thought I'd check and see if there were any other go-to sites for models.

I tried one of the models from AXYZ advertised on this site, but unfortunately the one I downloaded doesn't included skin underneath. I'm putting together a treatment for a medical device animation, so I'll need a figure with clothes that can be removed/lifted up to show the torso. I checked out DAZ3d, but from what I can tell it is it's own software and I'd rather have a mesh I can bring into C4D and rig/texture myself.

-thanks,

mike

Hi mike,

the current DAZ3d studio 4.6 version can export the content as fbx or dea file.

BTW: It is free for a limited time, see: http://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-4-pro/

I have an old free DAZ3D studio 3.1 version on my PC and I can export (from DAZ3D) and import (to C4D R13) e.g Michael as dea format w/o problems.

Sure, the exported materials must be adjusted (reflection channel with 100% is selected on all materials and some textures (e.g. for the lashes and the eyes) must be moved from the transparency channel to the alpha channel.

If you need clothes for this models of the latest DAZ3D studio version then you have the choice of several hundreds clothes (but 99,99% of it are not free)

Oh, I see 4.6 has also a GoZ plugin for ZBrush.

CU and good luck

When you purchased the file what option did you had? Max only? No FBX?

Yeah, only Max. I have contacted them to see if there is an FBX version or if I downloaded the wrong thing.

I guess it depends on which character you're purchasing, then!

I also made a quick tutorial about working with the Scale and Size, as well as the relation between the two. I also demonstrate how to give a precise size to a model, while maintaining the proportions. This is very relevant when we import models from other applications and we need to give a desired size to models.

You can watch it on my training website: http://www.vertextutor.com/ or my Vimeo channel: https://vimeo.com/channels/331738
