Equivalent of octane's blackbody emission effect in c4d or vray?

Recommended Posts

crancking up the luminance channel doesn't cut it, it doesn't turn the object into a true emitting light with glow and stuff.

ps. glow in cinema is bad.

Did you turn on Global Illumination ?

yes. I'll try to add pictures once I get home.

I mean luminance does work and it emmits light but it looks nowhere as nice as octane's blackbody emission

    c4d: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VErwdp0tYTU/TqvaExTubBI/AAAAAAAAAnA/J6S296DURto/s1600/dirty.PNG

You see the rectangle emitting light but the rectangle itself is sharp.

    Octane: https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/s320x320/e15/11311633_1457562077873370_894556111_n.jpg

Octane's blackbody emission emmits light AND emits a nice glow.

for a better visual here's one of beeple's streams:
    http://www.twitch.tv/beeple_crap/c/6473607

just skip to 38:40, that's when he starts using the effect.

at first it looks a regular c4d luminance material, but after adjusting the float and temperature, the body emits light and glows

    theory:

    Blackbody spectrum

    Description

This spectrum type is designed mainly for emitters. It is equal to the blackbody radiation spectrum defined by Planck's law. It takes an extra emissivity parameter, which is a constant factor to the Planck's law. Setting emissivity to 1 (default value) gives the unmodified Planck's law.

    Unit

W·m−2·sr−1·m−1 (spectral radiance as function of wavelength)

source: "eclat-digital's ocean light simulator 2014"

    -------------

Hard to say how it possible to apply to current physical or ar ... i knew several shaders which brought wavelength to c4d, but developer dropped it

recommend to pass it and use cindigo, ocean, octane...

if only new color picker of r17 with temp.in Kelvin?!

If one render can do it why not others
I think it's such a cool effect, I can imagine using it in almost every project I do.

I made several attempts to contact with MAXON devs team [hey i'm not Tom Cruise and this not Mission Impossible], i found wall of silence. And probably we never get info and in fact -> A.Stompel left his project Physical/AR3 in c4d, he move to microsoft.

MAXON live in own secret world. That's all. The end.

I downloaded indigo renderer (looking for renderers with blackbody emission) It's so good.
here's a comparison of cinema's (luminance channel, brightness 300% ~50 sec render) vs indigo's (blackbody emission, power 800 ~1 min render) vs octane's (blackbody emission, low temp high power. ~30 sec render) : https://gyazo.com/61b5325f49034251f5f100a06e5bb4b6

edit: the cinema's picture might look like that because of the gamma, I didn't pay attention to that.
