Here you go guys, finally finished with this interior project. Was my first and probably only visualisation project with Corona. I'm going to learn Unreal Engine 4 next and stay with the physical rend

What's up people!?  Haven't been around the past few years due to the fact that my work requires me to sit behind a pc monitor all day and I would like to do things in the real world as well 😅

Hi all!  First of all, hope everyone's had a great Christmas, I'm stuffed lol! So here's a first look at my project with color on the character! I still have to do the hair but haven't had time to

Hi guys, promised a close up so here it is. Been tweaking everyting and pushed the skin shader a bit further. Painted the sub dermis, translucency and fuzz map and I think the final look is great.
The metal plateau which he's standig on will be changed too as I don't think it really fits the setting.

The hair cards are finished too but I still have a problem with unwrapping the whole thing.
The UV shells need to be perfectly straight so they can overlap and I can create a couple of different textures and place them ontop of the different UV islands. The thing is, I can't seem to get straight ones out of Cinema, having more than 250 cards for the hair on the head, I don't feel like doing that straighten point thing with C4D's tools.  Is there an alternative that you guys know that can do this relatively easily?

Besides that, I want to wish you all a wonderful new years eve and the best wishes for 2017!!

Great update, well done for sticking at it, was well worth it.

When I make hair cards I make say 3 stips that vary in length, and Uv map them.  I then copy  these strips over and over again with the Uv maps already applied and place all  over the head copying the last placed one and so on.  I then merged all the strips and they now share the same Uv template all overlapping for alphas and textures.  Of course you can make more variations.  The hard way which is what I did the first few times was to try to align each strip on top of another when uv mapping, and for that I used Unfold3D which does what you describe.

You know, I haven't even thought about doing it that way, so stupid! I went into Zbrush and just created an IMM strip and created the whole haircut, took me hours. I don't think I'll be doing it over but it's good to know that there's a better way, thanks. I'll stick with the hard way then.
So Unfold3D straightens all the UV shells easily? I haven't downloaded the demo yet because I read that you can't save the file.

Greetings fellow artists,
Just finished my first character so I've been playing with some black and white renders. I stil have to create a small plateau for the turntable animation since the previous one was scrapped.

Had a lot of problems with the hair cards, they just didn't look good so instead I used Zbrush's Fibermesh. A real shame since I wanted to only use game dev techniques and keep it fairly low poly. I only used Zremesher on the gloves since retopo on this as well would have stalled the process to much for me.

Anyway, it was a great creative journey, I've discovered new workflows and learned new programs that I can use for my next projects!
For future projects i'd pay more attention to details on the garments. I've added lots of folds and stretching but in the end they could have been better visible. This took to much time already so I won't be going back to adjust that again.

A coloured version and the turntable animation will probably be done tomorrow or the day after. Hope you all like this one for now :)

Great job, love the black n white look.  Each character will get easier and faster, and better ways will be discovered.  I think when things get easier is when we stop trying to find THE way, and find our own way utilising workflows from different sources that fit our own creative workflows.

Keep up the cool work, look forward to the next one.  Zbrush can seriously speed things up if creating the base mesh from there if no defined design has be decided.

Thank you! I always have a soft spot for black & white and clay renders :D
I hope so, this project took so long discovering ways to do things and losing days of work because something didn't work how I planned.

Zbrush was a great help with creating base meshes indeed and just retopo in C4D. Do you just use Dynamesh while concepting?
My next project will be a cartoonish character done in Zbrush and C4D. Got a concept drawing lying here for a year or so and I finally feel confident enough too work it out.
