cloth won't hang straight (bug)?

  • My cloth won't hang straight down. As a test i created a simple plane, make it editable, add cloth, and then fix the two corner points. When i hit play it slants slightly to the right. I don't understand why. Zeroing out the wind has no effect. If i turn off the built in gravity and and my own gravity force I get the same results. I notice that the vertices near the upper right are bunched up more than the upper left corner. I have no idea why. I also tried using a belt. Same result. How can i get  cloth to hang straight?

Just wondering if the same thing happens if you triangulate it first...

    Hi,

I assume it's related to the unsymmetrical direction of the imaginary springs for shearing. You can see it a the 2 fixed points.

If you would delete the points of the right half of the object, put it under a symmetric object and convert it then the  imaginary springs for shearing should be symmetrical.

It will not work 100% in that way which you expected (a simulation is in most cases not a real life thing) it it would be look better.

    CU.
