Texture baking issue (black object after baking)

  • Hi guys,

     

    I signed up just now to try and find out if anyone had a solution to my issue.

     

    I am baking textures and recently got R17 after being long term in R13  (R13 works but R17 doesn't). My bakes turns black after I click bake texture or bake object.

    I've tried most basic thingsI could think of in terms of fixing it. 

     

    - Adding a light to the scene

    - Changing the output format

    - Deleting my preferences

     

     any suggestions?

    Hi and welcome

     

    Did you try changing UV projection or make UV unwrap?

  • Yes, i've tried that too.

     

    Even with keep uv's etc, just testing it on this cube because it bakes quickly.

     

    In fact now.. my bakes in the output window come out as purple/blue/green/grey etc... maybe this is a graphics error?

    Hmmm, strange, because for me its working without any problems. Did you maybe turn off display textures in viewport?

    For me work just fine. Used Texture baking, after bake created new matarial and result put in color channel and applied on object (red yellow colors is colorizer used)

  • any idea what you think  it could be? maybe a re install or something might fix it?

    In your first post you bake object illumination and correct map was created, but didn´t see in viewport. Question is, where is placed light object, because if it is behind cube, cube was enlighted from back to front of camera and we see correct result (and non black parts are "behind" object and non visible for us). Check material applied on baked cube if contain same looking material as in bake preview and/or rotate cube...

    If all previous was ok, then once more check material of contain baked illumination, because if I look in your screenshot, path is wrong/non complete. Set absolute path and check result again...
