Hey guys, I made this little animation last week as a competition entry into a local animation festival here in Melbourne.
(btw; you should all vote for my animation to win here: http://woobox.com/5rycma/gallery/naqLCmGb4iU )

This is my first project using Octane render, which is an absolute godsend for such a fast turnaround project like this ( I lit/textured/animated/rendered it in 2 days). The render times per frame where about 35-45 seconds with two GTX 980ti's

I didn't end up actually doing any post/compositing/colour correction on any of these shots; they're all just straight out of cinema/octane. It was pretty cool being able to get nice renders, that I was completely happy with, straight out of the renderer without needing to alter them further in post.

The live view window was awesome for this too; being new to Octane, you're able to learn really quickly because you can just start adjusting settings and see real time feedback of what each setting does.

I uploaded the scene file for the first 2 shot here, if anyone is interested in poking around in there (octane obviously required to render it):

    Thanks!
    Kyle.

  • Thanks guys!
That's fine about the scene files. I'm thinking I might make a page on my folio website with downloadable scene files for these kind of side-projects whenever I do them.

I'll post it here when I get around to doing that!

Yeah, I was originally going to make it longer (it was going to be a funny close up fast-cut, back-and-forth shots between the two gunslingers before the quick draw), but I sort of ran out of time, plus the competition required the idents to be only 10-20 seconds.
