Sphere on sphere.

  • Hey! I'm trying to make a rotating animated sphere as the attached picture where the dots becomes larger in the middle. Would be grateful for some help.

    OK get a big sphere, then hide it from viewport and render with the traffic lights.  Make another, much smaller sphere, and give it a material with 100% luminance, and nothing else. 

    Put that in a cloner, set that to Object mode / vertex, and give it the hidden big sphere as a source. Adjust point count on that to change how many spheres you get. Now get a plain effector applied to the cloner, give it spherical falloff, and play with the scale and falloff values until sphere size increases towards the middle as you want. That should do it... in fact it has !

    Actually there's a better way, without using an effector. Same setup as above, but instead of the effector, put the distribution mode to Polygon Center, and then turn on scaling. Boom - spheres resize like the polygons do...

    Is polygon scaling new in R18 ? @Winkelfilm is on R14.
