I did HD upgrades  to my PC and had to reinstall Windows and all the programs... And so when I got to point to use the Redshift licensing  tool it crashed.  I was told to wait for new version 2.5.21  and it would fix the problem.  Well it did not. Have not  heard from Redshift since.

I search the Internet for hours trying to figure out how to use image and alpha mask  on surface of a material. I know its possible apply alpha on texture but on material  not so much.  Anyone know solution to this?

Weird about the licensing tool.  They've been super responsive with any issues I've had.  Hopefully you'll get that sorted.

If you're talking about alpha for stacking of materials via the C4D object pane, it won't work that way.

You have to "stack" your materials via the RS node editor, using something like the material blender node and a texture to drive the blending.  In this case I just used a C4D noise shader as my "alpha" for Layer 1, which is the gold material.

Not sure if this is what you meant, though.

@nerv Thanks, you are the man!

I was originally trying to combine Texture Composite with the Material Composite thinking those two have to link somehow ...

Redshift guys got hold of me today and most likely it will get fixed by tomorrow.

Also big thanx @merkvilson for all the handy short tuts on Redshift forum

I am so pleased we have our own little RS community. :) Keep up the good work guys! I will definitely switch my render software as soon as I can spare some money.  :cowboypistol:

I got redshift alpha yesterday & ended up with very little sleep last night. Could not stop playing. I've had Octane for just over a year and have had a love / hate relationship with it.

I'm already in love with RS.

Thanks for posting up the tutorial vids. nerv. Much appreciated.

Triplanar question - What am I doing wrong here ?

I've followed Nerv awesome videos and in part 3 I've setup triplanar using C4D noise shaders but I can't get it to work. Tried messing around and randomly clicking things but no joy. I really don't know what I'm doing here. Here's my scene file.

Is this it?
