Generate Spline at the Middle of the Geo

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Is there a way to generate a spline in the middle of a geometry much like the one below? I understand there is an "Edge to Spline" command but it does not generate in the middle of a geometry.

I was thinking of somewhere along the line of this version

Perhaps I am missing something, but I don't see why that's so useful when you can just create a spline (I use a helix with special default settings so I always get a perfectly straight, precisely segmentable line, but any will do), and then 'reset PSR' it to your object, which will place it at the object centre, no ? (assuming the axis is at center)...

But in answer to your question, no, I don't think there is a way to do it in Cinema natively without making a script.

  • @Cerbera Thanks for the response. The command will be used for the converting Zbrush CurveTube. Due to the ease of control, I do poly modelling of my hair in Zbrush. However, they come in as cylinder shape rather than spline. This is why I need a command that can transform this clylinder shape into a single spline. But I see your point. Will try to search if there is a C4D script somewhere. Thanks again!

Oh OK, yes that does make sense :) But doesn't change the answer alas....

Actually, it is possible.  I answered the question here a few days ago.

@bentraje I answered your followup question regarding selections.

I stand corrected ! Thanks - ingenious way of doing it - I'd never have thought of that :)
