I'd like to say third time's the charm, but these are way too much fun to work on, so I can't make any promises...

Thought I'd finally contribute to this inspiring forum. The train is from turbosquid, the smoke in Houdini, and the original from Magritte. Rendered with Redshift. Any comments are very welcome. Thanks, and hope you like it!

@grain yes it can! That looks awesome.  Very hypnotic.

@ericperley I love Maggritte. Great surreal scene. Great job with the smoke and engine animation!  My feedback would be that everything looks a little flat right now.  Not sure if it's the lighting, the texturing, or a mix of both, but it does have an unmistakably CGI look to it.

Maybe you were going for that, though!

Using some sea creature 3D scans from Turbosquid for some trippy, surreal material studies.

Thanks, @nerv! I really appreciate the feedback, and I certainly see what you mean. I considered at first trying to create a more realistic scene, but ended up instead trying to reproduce the feel of the original. But I think I will try another approach -- maybe with another of Magritte's paintings. By the way, awesome work. Love the trippy texturing lately.
