  1. Only commenting on the things I used. Scene nodes look promising (haven't tested), but more importantly again show a strong vision for the future. I also comment on the general outlook, MyMaxon and the pricing on the bottom. Feedback on new UV workflow: It is definitely a huge step forwards but it seems like in beta still. There are many bugs and broken tools right now. This includes S22 but in general there is still a clunkyness that could be easily solved, mostly by fixing the broken not working selections.   2. If I may, I love Cinema 4D and my intent with my Avatar is not to profess fanatical devotion to Blender. Now, Blender is a good program. It's users do have a lot to be happy about. I did try it when the interface improved with 2.8. But despite those improvements, it is still a bit clunky. Everything is there and for the most part stable, but (IMHO) the UI unnecessarily gets in the way of fully enjoying the program. In short, C4D is a lot more fun to use! So why do I have that Avatar? I had a surface level look at scene nodes but then digged into the past material nodes again and want to share some thoughts, not so much about the functionality but the implications of the prioritized things.   6. IMHO....the Cafe is a rarity on the internet. Personally, I am NOT a big fan of social media in all its forms. The best compliment I ever received was that I have a low internet footprint.   8. Just wanted to say that I realize that sometimes I and others in the forum come across as very critical of what MAXON does or does not do. I feel personally invested in MAXON and its software. I really care what happens with it so. I am very grateful to the developers and management in what they have been able to create over the years and I have enjoyed the software and it has helped me with my career and personal creative development. So thank you MAXON & Team for everything you guys do and please try not to take the criticism too personally, we speak up because we care.

  12. I read through Shrikes post, all great points. But people should look at the nodes system as a tech preview. And even though the examples may only be showing cubes and spheres, what it is demonstrating is how they are solving the #1 problem that everyone on every forum or slack channel has been hammering them about for years. And that is being able to interactively move millions of objects around in the scene. I get that people want to see real world examples. But all anyone needs to do is in their minds swap out those million cubes for a million houses, or a million trees, or a million cars i

  13. Grateful I jumped off...and stuck w/plan for blender/R20. Will have soon saved nearly $2,000. Never had to fuss with broken plugins, bugs, hassles and modest upgrades. Already had Octane and Rizom UV. Did buy the amazing Exoside Quad Remesher few months ago. $2,000 saved...Hmmm...that's about the price of 2-year Houdini Indie, an RTX 3090 and a nice dinner date. So.....tomorrow is the "MAXON 3D & Motion Design Show: The Siggraph Edition" with the Mr. McGavran kicking off the show with: "some exciting announcements and a few sneak peeks at the future of MAXON products" and not one thread about what to expect in the next release in the Cafe? Did I miss something? If I did not miss something and there really is complete silence, then could it be due to one or more of the following? We don't expect anything different than what has already been announced in S22. We finally got an update to the UV editing system in S22

This script allows a C4D user (there is also a separate version for ZBrush) to import neuron morphology data from NeuroMorpho.org. It creates realistic, accurate models that you can use in your illustrations and animations, either directly or as the basis for further modelling.   21. I gotta say, as a subscriber of C4D, and also owner of a perpetual license of R18. Not having the upgrade informations available to all customers, and acessible online worldwide... as easy as it is to purchase a new subscription... feels like a intentional bottleneck, to filter out everyone else who isnt a subscriber. There has to be a way to integrate a new business model (subscription) without having to make perpetual users to feel like complete outcasts? As there is a severe lack of resources for cutting edge real-time asset creation workflows for C4d and as we use C4D for games I felt the need to give something back to the community, especially as it took me many years to learn how these things all work. (Link below) Hopefully this helps other people and I hope MAXON will push more towards realtime modeling and baking workflows as real-time seems to be the future even for movies and VFX with the lines continually blurring, Plus it turns out that C4D surprisingly has very strong advantages in many areas over the typical real-time Modeling

  23. There's always a better something somewhere, but sometimes you just like the one you've got ! Of course I do have HB modelling bundle, and am fully aware of all the remaining weaknesses in Cinema's modelling toolset, but TBH I don't find any of them too problematic on a day-to-day level. I model an enormous variety of stuff, and the amount of times I am left genuinely stuck because Cinema can't do something remain very minimal and it is exceptionally rare that I find a problem I can't think my way around using the tools that are available to me here in C4D. For the hobbyist who has never made a dime off of the software, annual maintenance costs do add up but the beauty of maintenance over subscription is that you are actually "owning" something at the end. With subscriptions, what I was once paying for maintenance now just gets me a right-to-use for a limited time (1 year). As you don't own it, once you stop paying it goes away. I would imagine that most digital enthusiasts like myself probably have X-Particles or some other 3rd party renderer or any other plugin that has maintenance programs (DEM earth, etc). So when

Because I see no evidence for the collective needs of the users, beyond everyday questions that do not require programming but can be solved with onboard tools. The category "Plugins Requests" on this very forum contains three entries, the newest being more than two months already.   30. I saw a video on YouTube by a guy who makes kinetic art mobiles. He had an interesting one made out of toothed spirals, so I had a go at recreating it in C4D. I tried using a helix spline, but couldn't seem to get the objects to interact correctly, so I made a proper log spiral using tracer.   33. I have a method for dynamic cars where the car follows a target. You can stop/start the target, and the wheels steer etc. car stop.c4d for more detailed cars, you can have a same size primitive dynamic car with the hi poly stuff as children. Works well off-road

  35. If I was a professional using C4D to earn a living, then ANY subscription plan makes sense, especially if you have core employees and then need to expand for a particular job (eg. Core employees go with the annual plans, transitional employees go on the monthly plan). If your business is predictable enough, you could easily buy X more seats than core employees in anticipation of those busy times as the monthly rates do add up quickly. But as a hobbyist, subscriptions are not preferred because you can never go back to your work should you no longer be able to afford the subscripti

  37. I know your comment about what is being explored applies to C4D's capabilities and that you probably have no insight to where the internal discussions are going on indie licenses. Honestly, I do hope that indie licenses are being as carefully considered as the ongoing development of Neutron. The comments made by Shrike and Dasfrodo that missing indie/young/hobby users at a lower price point will starve MAXON of future revenue cannot be ignored. While I state that Blender gives us options, I guess it is also true that hacked software gives them options too (which is really sad)

  43. That statement is incorrect: Blender has gone through two major rewrites so far: from 2.4x to 2.5, and from 2.79 to 2.8x. The viewport was completely rewritten as well in 2.8. The old internal renderer was removed and replaced with Eevee. The difference between how MAXON has approached this is that the Blender developers decided to work concurrently on the older branch and new branch, thereby providing users with a choice to keep working with a stable older version and on the other hand testing the waters in the new rewitten branch.   45. No one wants speed improvements? Part of the reason for the core rewrite was to make C4D handle more complex scenes and be a lot quicker. As far as I know you're all still waiting. So for me, not that it really matters since I no longer use C4D my top 5 would be: Faster / handle more objects Bodypaint / UV tools replaced. Unbelieveable that the UV tools still haven't been replaced Modelling tool enhancements e.g. proper symmetry modelling, Bridge tool enhancements, modelling fall offs. Thinking Particles replaced. Alternatively admit defeat and remove TP and make X-P

  48. I think the question is just a slight bit different. We won't be avoiding the correct features because we have a partnership with someone as was feared in a post above. The question shouldn't be "will we add a compositor" to C4D. But will we add the correct features to make sure what you do in C4D is the correct work for a given pipeline. For some pipelines some compositing would be nice. Others don't need any and some would want a full compositor. These are great discussions and ongoing internally. Where we land on this and when is TBD. I am enjoying reading this thread.
