  1. In terms of features this is better than R19. I am glad they added OpenVDB in the way they did. I can see a good workflow from C4D to ZBrush. The fields system looks great and the fact that it can work as a polygon deformer should improve modeling workflows. The material nodes system is nice. I like the fact that added multiple ways to do things in the system and "small" things like create a input node from an output node's port. As far as the UV tools, I know changes are coming and I don't UV via Cinema 4D right now. I look forward when they have better tools in the future.
  2. Hoping they work on the UV creation/editing tools. At least have an Atlas or Atlas 2 mapping projection option. The visual feedback is welcome. Until C4D has better UV editing tools I will be using Modo to create and edit the UVs. I hope something is done in that regard.
  3. I have used RIS through Cineman before but I don't think I can use it in Broadcast.
  4. It seems that Pixar killed development for its Cinema 4D plugin. It is no longer listed on the Renderman site. It could be that MAXON acquired it and will be bundling it with the Studio version which I will be upset about because I have the Broadcast Edition.
  5. I missed the presentation but I have a question that may not have been asked: Will Renderman for C4D work for non-studio users? I ask because I learned my lesson about edition capability when I got Houdini Indie and discovered that the Houdini Engine only worked with Studio.
  6. MAXON does have a forum at Cineversity. I don't use it because I rarely post on forums other than this one.
  7. Good points all around this post. I just hope this doesn't end up being a West Side Story battle with all the choreography and the like
  8. Note: I was writing this post as HSrdelic posted twice(BTW, I to some extent understand where you are coming from) Having worked at companies with NDAs I understand how difficult it is talk as an employee. That being said MAXON needs work on their PR. Specifically addressing the issues users have with existing features and tools. A simple PR email stating we are aware of the existing feature problems(listing each) and we are working to resolve them. It does not need to be specific i.e. timeframe, what service pack release, etc. In the same vein, I think any existing feature that a lot of users have issue with should be dealt with via a service pack release. I still love C4D along with Modo and Houdini and I am looking forward to seeing what new features R17 will have.
  9. I want to echo Brian's sentiments to Nigel. I am a relative old timer at C4D Cafe and I would not have upgraded from C4D 6 had I not found good tutorials at the cafe which were scarce in those days. Cinema 4D has definitely lost some luster over the years but I love the procedural aspects of it with NURBS and Mograph. I still like C4D over Modo with the exception of its material workflow and renderer. The thing that keeps me from going Modo full tilt is the navigation and its lack of a procedural workflow(once you drop a tool that is it) Rob
  10. Over doing the "What should be in the next version?" bit. Happy with what I have and looking forward to what's next.
