  1. Yes, you're right. A dedicated bump map would look much better, but unfortunately I don't have time to create dedicated bump maps for every texture! Thanks
  2. Hi there, I find that copying my color channel textures directly to the bump channel creates a quick bit of realism. I'm looking to speed up the process even more by writing a script, but I don't know where to get started with that. Ideally, the script would copy the color channel textures into the bump channel for each material selected. Where should I get started to make this script? Thanks
  3. Yes, but I'm not speaking of the material manager, I'm having issues with the build up of material tags in the object manager. I love being able to use Remove Duplicate Materials in the material manager - makes sense to have a computer do something repetitive and simple that would otherwise be a waste of time for me as a human. Would love to have a similar function within the object manager per object that automatically combines polygon selection tags per material and combines material tags thereafter. It would probably be easiest to first generate and combine UVW tags, so that you end up with only one UVW at the end, with all of the remaining material tags using UVW projection. Thank you
  4. Is there a script out there to consolidate materials/textures on single objects? I often import large scenes from clients and I have to connect+delete lots of them to make the viewport/scene run smoothly. The downside is that a lot of the objects end up having tons of repeated material tags, which makes it really hard to manage and change the materials. It also slows down the viewport as well. Is there an easy/automated way to "consolidate" the materials so that I have only one of each material on an object? Thank you!
  5. Is there a way to display fractional feet/inches in C4D? I do design work, and often need to communicate dimensions in feet AND inches, not decimal feet... until America adopts SI...
  6. He doesn't say exactly how to do it, but it's basically created by nesting the fusion shader (at around 21:00): http://www.cineversity.com/vidplaytut/nab_2015_rewind_mike_seften Mike Senften is incredible, and says some things I can really get behind about workflow and creativity through real-time feedback. I recommend watching the whole video...
  7. Does anyone know how to make interactive (visible in OpenGL) heatmaps? ...I remember seeing a NAB video about it where some guy was doing live projection mapping onto a truck model... he also talked about a complex file workflow for exporting his content from C4D... thanks edit: never mind I found it
