  1. Thank you. Even though anything to do with Python and coding looks scary, I will investigate
  2. Okay, the headline is I'm trying to get the 3-D position of a null into After Effects from C4D. I need the position of the null so that I can composite an image on the front of the flattened cube shown in my image, marked with a red circle. Easy, right? Save the C4D file, open AE, import the file, use Cineware to extract the 3-D scene data and camera. Done. Except, not done. The null called 'Pic' is keyframed to jump out towards the camera and spin, and to get the springy motion, I put the cube in a Fracture object and then used a Delay effector. And this is
  3. Hi I'm a designer more comfortable with After Effects, and even though I do use C4D in a somewhat basic way, I have a job where I have run into several small problems that I know an expert wouldn't have any trouble with. The client is happy with the designs, and I'm comfortable with animation, so the help I need is probably limited. I am in need of someone who is able to be on hand and offer solutions when I hit a snag, mostly at the moment it seems to be in the area of texturing and applying materials to clones. You should be: - advanced level in all aspects of C4
  4. lol - ok, thank you to all of you :-) In case you're interested, I'm attaching where it is at the moment. (Can the Mograph selection be used to affect visibility? I'd like some of the numbers to disappear randomly…) Anyway, thanks again.
  5. I am getting slightly fed up with my own stupidity here, but I finally understand the principle, and where I was going wrong. One last question before I go away and hide in embarrassment… Say I wanted every second number (0,30, 60 etc) to be larger than the others, or maybe every fifth notch in the parameter markers to be longer than the others… Is this possible? I guess it's a general point too, how do I affect only certain clones (very targeted) within a cloner? I'll leave you alone after this, I promise :-)
  6. Thanks, I'm a little bit embarrassed at how easy it turned out to be. I didn't understand that the first value needs to be the first 'stop'. However, maybe this next question will be a little harder :-) I have two concentric rings of numbers now, going in opposite directions. But I would like the 360 to be represented as a zero '0' in both cases. Is there a way of displaying 0, while actually calculating 360?
  7. Hi, I have found useful primer (https://cineversity.com/vidplaylist/cinema_4d_quick_tips/generating_number_sequences_using_mograph) on generating numbers in a cloner, and then arranging them in a grid or radially, but there's nothing about how to generate numbers that are not consecutive, but within a range. For example, I am trying to make a basic protractor shape, and I would like the appropriate numbers every 15°, but obviously only up to 360. I can't wrap my head around the appropriate xpresso. Some help would be appreciated.
  8. That's great advice, thank you. It has been improved massively, and thanks for the beginners guide to topology!
  9. Thanks, but it doesn't seem to fix the main problem.
  10. Hi I have a vector logo which I have extruded and then made editable. I want to break up the logo into regular pieces, so I used a matrix object as the source for the Voronoi Fracture. However, I had to use a Connect object to get 'chunks' from the VF, otherwise I only get flaky polygons (see the third image I have attached.) But the Connect object gives me a slightly messed up mesh (I think) which becomes very apparent under certain lighting (red box and arrow in my images attached) I've tried various settings. If I turn off the 'weld' option in the Connect
  11. Hi I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a texture pack that utilises the current Reflectance channel in materials? I have a couple of older texture packs but I don't think that is making the most of R19. The current GSG seems not to have been updated for quite a while. Any tips greatly appreciated. A
  12. Hi The client has asked for a kind of 'voxel animation' effect, where one model will break apart into cubes, and then re-form (from the cubes) into another object, in this case a logo. I have no real experience with x-particles, will this do the job? And will it be a very steep learning curve? Or maybe someone has a more straightforward solution? Many thanks. A
