  1. I should add, in the picture above, the rope is static geometry, no dynamics or anything applied yet.
  2. I'm animating a miniature sailing ship, and would like to connect a cloth sail to a spline rope. Here's an example of the set up (The highlighted geometry is the rope): Trying to figure out the best way to attach that point that will allow the cloth dynamic to exert pull on the rope, but for that connection to have tension as well. Any insights would be much appreciated!
  3. Cool! I played with these settings and it doesn't quite achieve what I'm looking for, but I see how these settings will be very useful for other stuff I'll be attempting with fairground rides thanks so much for your response!
  4. Hi all, I'm curious about how folks might go about doing this: I'm trying to animate an amusement park ride along a downhill track. I'm currently using the align to spline tool, but wonder if there is a way to introduce dynamics into the equation: Keeping the car locked to the spline, but reacting dynamically to gravity, as it goes up and down over hills, etc. Basically, how a roller coaster would move or perhaps a marble on a run, but without modeling out the wheels and tracks etc. just an object "falling" along a path. Thanks!
  5. Might I ask, in addition, in C4D, if you do have a complicated scene and you do playback in the viewport that runs below framerate, do you generally expect it to run at full framerate once it's done the first play through? ie, does it cache the frames and play at full speed after it loops to the beginning? Because my scene doesn't do that either.
  6. I appreciate your response. I understand there's little for you to go on, I'm new to C4D and I thought perhaps there was some obvious playback checkbox that was causing it to play below frame rate. Other than that, no major system changes or any installs since this morning (when it worked fine). I'm at a loss.
  7. Hi all, I suddenly (popped up today) have very slow animation playback in my viewport even with new, empty projects. Viewport refreshes fine when I navigate around, no lag. It only affects animation playback speed. I have tried with and without OpenGL checked. I have cleared space on my hard drive, restarted several times... not really sure what's causing it. I wonder if I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere. Unchecking All Frames does speed things up, but in an empty project, I don't know why playback is up to 2-4 times slower with all frames checked on. Any help appreciated! For what it's worth, I've attached a screenshot of my project settings, though I'm pretty sure they are the default for a new empty project. I'm on a 2017 Macbook Pro. My specs are 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 I greatly appreciate any help you can offer!
